1. Who we are and what these terms cover
RockDesk (“RockDesk”, “we”, “us”) provides a self-hosted remote desktop solution, consisting of client software for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, a command-line interface, and managed relay servers. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the RockDesk software, the rockdesk.io website, and any pass you purchase there. By creating an account, installing the software or purchasing a plan, you agree to these terms.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the software or the service.
2. The service
RockDesk lets you connect to a computer you control from another device. Connections are attempted peer-to-peer first, with fallback to our relay network when direct connection is not possible. Session content is end-to-end encrypted (AES-256-GCM and SM4-GCM); we cannot see, intercept or record it. What we can see is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address. Your licence is bound to that email address — log in with the same address in the RockDesk client.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and device access passwords confidential, and for all activity that takes place under your account.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase a plan.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Passes, pricing and payment
Current passes and prices are shown on our pricing page. Every pass is a one-time purchase, not a subscription:
- Day Pass — USD $1, adds 1 day.
- Month Pass — USD $11, adds 30 days.
- Year Pass — USD $110, adds 365 days.
Days stack: a pass adds its days on top of whatever licence time you have left. Every pass covers up to 5 devices and uses our managed relay servers. Self-Hosted and Enterprise deployments are priced individually and are covered by section 10 below.
No automatic renewal. We do not store your card, we do not charge you again, and there is nothing to cancel. When your remaining days run out, the licence simply expires and the client stops using our managed relay network until you buy another pass.
Payment processing. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service enquiries and handles returns. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms. Payment card details are entered on Paddle’s checkout and are never seen or stored by us.
Prices and taxes. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes, which are calculated and collected by Paddle where applicable. We may change prices at any time; the price shown at checkout is the price you pay for that purchase, and a change never affects a pass you have already bought.
5. Expiry
Because passes are one-time purchases, there is no subscription to cancel and no recurring charge to stop. Your licence stays valid until the days you bought are used up. Buying another pass before or after expiry adds to the balance. Expiry does not delete your account or your devices; it ends access to our managed relay network.
6. Refunds
Our refund terms are set out in full in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. Acceptable use
Remote access software can be misused. The following are strictly prohibited, and breaching them will result in immediate termination without refund:
- Accessing any computer, network or account that you do not own or do not have explicit, documented authorisation to access.
- Installing RockDesk on someone else’s device without their informed consent, or concealing that it is installed — including any use for stalkerware, covert monitoring of family members, partners or employees where prohibited by law.
- Any form of fraud, including technical-support scams, refund scams, romance scams, impersonating a bank, government body or software vendor, or persuading a person to grant remote access under false pretences.
- Distributing malware or ransomware, exfiltrating data, or using RockDesk as part of an attack on any third-party system.
- Reselling, sublicensing or white-labelling the service without our written agreement.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling or circumventing licence checks, except where that right cannot be excluded by law.
- Any use that is unlawful in your jurisdiction or in the jurisdiction of the device you connect to, or that breaches export-control or sanctions rules.
You are solely responsible for having the right to access every device you connect to. If you use RockDesk in an organisation, you are responsible for obtaining any consent and giving any notice your local law requires.
8. Licence and intellectual property
Subject to your compliance with these terms and payment of the applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the RockDesk client software on up to the number of devices included in your pass, for as long as your licence has days remaining. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. RockDesk, the RockDesk name and logo, and the software remain our property or that of our licensors.
9. Open-source components
RockDesk includes third-party open-source components. Those components are licensed to you under their own licences, which are listed on our Open Source page and prevail over this section to the extent of any conflict.
10. Self-hosted and enterprise deployments
Self-Hosted and Enterprise deployments are governed by a separately executed Enterprise Software License Agreement. Where that agreement and these terms conflict, that agreement prevails for the deployment it covers. In a self-hosted deployment, all connection metadata, session recordings and audit logs remain on your own servers.
11. Availability and support
We aim to keep the relay network available continuously, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation on the Day, Month or Year Pass. Maintenance, network conditions and events outside our control may interrupt service. Support for these passes is provided by email at [email protected] on a reasonable-efforts basis. Formal service levels are available only under an Enterprise agreement.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the software and service are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements or that any defect will be corrected.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or business, arising out of or relating to the software or service. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach section 7 (Acceptable use), if payment fails, or if we are required to do so by law or by a payment provider. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will normally contact you first. On termination your licence ends and you must stop using the software.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. For material changes affecting a paid plan we will give notice by email at least 14 days in advance. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation; if that fails, either party may submit the dispute to the competent court at our domicile. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
